Notwithstanding that, the organization likewise bargains in oil based goods. The organization has been established in 1885 and is headquartered in Melbourne, Australia. The organization is going by CEO Andrew Mackenzie and Chairman Jaques Nasser. Blackmores Limited is an Australian worldwide organization with commitment in pharmaceutical business. In addition, on account of Blackmores, the organization is a market chief in Australian wellbeing and nutrient enhancements advertise yet has worldwide nearness essential among them being Asian countries, for example, China, Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia among others. The distinction as far as the scope of issues managed by the organization in their social reports: As far as BHP Billiton, the organization imparts in their report that they have started a maintainability approach towards their business activities. The organization has a sanction that involves the basic beliefs of the association, duty towards the network just as specifying the norm and techniques that are required to be applied all through the association (BHP Billiton | A main worldwide assets organization. 2017). In their supportability report, BHP Billiton features the distinctive arrangement of activities attempted by the organization as far as social, foundation, wellbeing and advancement among others. On account of BHP Billiton, it very well may be seen that the organization concentrates essentially towards the resettlement of networks. This is because of the explanation that the organization is occupied with mining and oil extraction and along these lines needs to center towards the resettlement of networks that are based close to the activity locales. On account of Blackmores, the social duty report put accentuation after starting estimates that are ecologically feasible. The report essentially centers around giving a diagram identifying with the naturally reasonable measures without diving into exhaustive subtleties relating to the social exercises. Blackmores centers upon exercises, for example, treatment of general and natural food squander, reasonable green power alongside landfill exercises (Blackmores Limited. 2017). In addition, Blackmoress social report will in general incorporate procedures relating to the preservation of water, vitality, gushing and squander alongside discharges. Blackmores gives the information relating to its dedication towards social obligation by itemizing the commitment towards social causes and networks. Such activities incorporate a commitment towards Cancer Council, Heart Ali, Cure Brain Cancer Foundation and WWF among others (Blackmores Limited. 2017). Additionally, the organization likewise sup ports games, for example, Sydney long distance race and Australian Open among different occasions. On account of BHP Billiton, the introductions relating to supportability report are more intensive and itemized than on account of Blackmores. Also, BHP Billiton centers upon variables, for example, water revealing, network resettlement just as prosperity of the network. Then again, the social revealing of Blackmores are not nitty gritty appropriately in their reports. Additionally, BHP Billiton discharges corporate manageability report on a yearly premise, while then again Blackmores doesn't discharge maintainability reports every year except gives supportability procedures and accomplishments. Clarification of distinction in revealing: The diverse as far as revealing by the two organizations emerges because of the idea of businesses that the organizations have a place with. On account of BHP Billiton, the organization is locked in towards mining exercises combined with extraction and showcasing of oil (BHP Billiton | A main worldwide assets organization. 2017). Along these lines, the business activities relating to the organization involves an enormous number of social expenses. This is attributable to the explanation that the items that the organization manages contributing towards the arrival of ozone depleting substances into the climate. Also, the mining exercises will in general debase the earth attributable to its inborn nature. Consequently, the organization needs to create an altogether definite maintainability report on a yearly premise so as to encourage the identification of corporate social duty exercises attempted by the organization. In addition, since mining exercises and oil extraction involves an e normous number of resettlement, in this manner, on account of BHP Billiton the organization requires tending to issues in regards to the resettlement of networks from its mining destinations. Subsequently, since the accentuation after starting socially dependable exercises are more on account of BHP Billiton than on account of Blackmores, accordingly a distinction in detailing of maintainability exercises are seen as far as the two organizations. Then again, on account of Blackmores, the organization's activity doesn't involve naturally degradable exercises as can be seen on account of BHP Billiton. Nicholas Sacco (2016) referenced with regards to corporate social obligation that enterprises that are occupied with naturally lamentable exercises require to contribute more towards the network when contrasted with businesses whose exercises are less woeful. In this manner, it tends to be translated that on account of Blackmores, since the exercises and business activity relating to the organization is less woeful than that of the mining business, along these lines the organization doesn't require to start as much socially capable exercises as BHP Billiton does. Evaluation of nature of the social bookkeeping approach according to Zadek et al.s standards: This area assesses the nature of the social bookkeeping approach that has been started on account of BHP Billiton and Blackmores as indicated by the eight standards that have been brought about by Zadek et al. (1997). The eight measures involve inclusivity, likeness, culmination, advancement, the board strategy and frameworks, outside check and persistent improvement (Chambers Humble, 2017). On account of BHP Billiton, it very well may be seen that the social reports will in general concentration upon comprehensiveness. This can be seen on account of BHP that the networks that will in general get influenced by the organization's business tasks have been altogether connected by the organization through an alternate arrangement of activities. Since the supportability report of BHP Billiton is distributed every year, in this way the level of similarity relating to the social report is palatable. Also, on account of culmination it very well may be induced that the social report relating to BHP Billiton is completely definite, in any case, the exhibition measurements as far as number and outlines relating to the supportability targets is absent on account of BHP. Regarding advancement, the board arrangement and frameworks, it tends to be derived that the maintainability report of BHP Billiton is palatable. The reports relating

Miniaturized scale and large scale financial on us exchange - Essay Example Microeconomics relates to the monetary choice and decisions that are made by singular customers, firms and businesses and the effect it has on the allotment of assets, request and flexibly in economies of the market. As request and gracefully decides the costs of merchandise and ventures accessible in the market, microeconomics additionally characterizes how costs include in different monetary choices and the other way around. Miniaturized scale financial analysts are essentially fearful about considering various reasons of market disappointment and connoting intends to address or stop them, for the most part with the assistance of open arrangement or by including the legislature. (Bernanke, 2003) Monopoly is one of these disappointments that the market faces. Syndication basically manifests when a business delivers a decent at too modest a value that its rivals are driven away from the market. In the US, genuine Monopoly is uncommon nowadays, still IBM, Microsoft and Wal-Mart are ci rcumscribing to it. Though, Oligopoly strikes when, in a particular industry, a portion of the controlling organizations order and set the costs according to their decision for the whole business to either decrepit or leave the market. Oligopolistic businesses in the US incorporate bookkeeping and review administrations, airplane, military hardware, music recording enterprises and film. (Dwivedi, 2002) Businesses that are all around manufactured may consider cornering the market by either controlling every single imaginable methods of creation or buying mechanical assets, along these lines driving the contenders to close down and leave. Not all organizations are allowed the rights to consume an industry as certain legislatures do mediate and stop such acts. It is the main mean whereby no single firm or individual guidelines the market cost of the merchandise or administrations. The cost of the item is dictated by its complete expense and the benefits rely upon the interest the item has. It is practically difficult to predict the result of any financial approach. The activity of small scale financial analysts is to recommend goals of market disappointments that has the best impact regardless of what the coincidental expenses are. (Gwartney, 2009) Microeconomics likewise decid e the most reasonable approaches remembering the response that will be gotten from the impetuses and disincentives given to people in general in such strategies. For example, in the US ventures are permitted in urban zones the smoke and particles of synthetic substances will harm the water and air in the territory. This won't just make individuals fall wiped out, bringing about increment of human services offices and drug and yet in addition hurt the natural lifecycle of that zone. Moreover, because of the lost magnificence of nature, the travel industry will likewise be influenced. To forestall such dangers, the administration controls the regions where such ventures are permitted to work, on the counsel of the smaller scale business analysts. In the event that the organization doesn't discover this condition helpful for their benefits they may decide to move somewhere else this would build joblessness around there thusly the administration may pick to give them some motivator to r emain back. This may incorporate a tax reduction for at some point till they make enough benefits to suit this approach

The story of Oedipus - Free Essay Example
The story of Oedipus is a true Greek tragedy in that the main character, Oedipus, rises to power in the city of Thebes only to be told of a prophecy saying he, although unknowingly, committed fratricide and his wife, Jocasta, is his biological mother. When all of this information gets to Oedipus he is rightfully shocked, but his mother/wife commits suicide and with her pin, Oedipus blinds himself. Oedipus is the framework of a tragic Greek character because he has redeeming qualities such as his ability to think, like when dealing with the Sphinx, he has issues with keeping his pride in check due to his own intelligence and stubbornness. Ultimately, what makes Oedipus such a tragic character is that he wanted no part in his prophecy but he was doomed to fail from the start. We can see that the theme of Oedipus was about self-knowledge, and how well he could handle the truth and what he could do with the information. To truly understand what makes Oedipus story tragic we must look into the element that holds the most relevance throughout the story; Oedipus prophecy. The prophecy was made to Oedipus father, King Laius, that his child would eventually kill him so he sought to get rid of his son in hopes of avoiding this prophecy. This becomes a trend with Oedipus as well as he also gets the same prophecy from an oracle; because of this prophecy, Oedipus leaves Corinth and heads towards Thebes, where his real parents were. Both of these mens undoing is their blind belief that they can escape prophecy or change fate. This ignorance is juxtaposed by Oedipus intelligence, especially when solving the Sphinxs riddle to become the king of Thebes. Oedipus is a smart man, but by trying to fight fate and running from the truth he only succeeded in accomplishing the prophecy. The true tragedy of Oedipus is that despite all of his intelligence and quick thinking, he denied the truth of which he was, he ran awa y from home in hopes of not being part of his own prophecy and ended up a blind man wandering the world due to his own foolishness. Oedipus is not the only one to blame for his fate. All this happened because Oedipuss parents choice to abandon him because of a prophecy. If they had taken care of him from a young age and told him what the prophecy said when he reached adulthood, then none of what happened to Oedipus would have happened. Oedipus would have been the next king in line, and the prophecy would not have come true. The man Oedipus ran to at the dance was also to blame. If he wasnt drunk, then he would have not said all those mean things to Oedipus and he would have never mentioned the fact that the parents Oedipus think he had was never his real parents. Oedipus would have never gone out to seek the truth to prove that man wrong. Oedipus would have never run away and killed his father on the road. What makes Oedipus a true tragedy? Oedipus had a sudden reversal of fortune and a change in circumstances. This was when the Messenger shows up from Corinth. The man tries to ease the Kings mind by telling him that hes not really king Polybos son. This ends up driving Oedipus toward his horrible fate. Then there was a moment when Oedipus recognizes his true identity and discovers his own situation. In Oedipus the King this was when the testimonies of the Messenger and the Theban Shepherd make Oedipus realize that he fulfilled the prophecy that hes tried to avoid so bad unwilling. Then later there was a catastrophe which caused great and sudden damage and suffering to Oedipus and his family. When he found out he murdered his father and married his mother, which leads him to stabbing his eyes out and his mother and wife hanging herself. The story of Oedipus is a tragedy of a man who is ruined by forces he could not run from or he could not have been expected to have understood, which makes Oedipus not responsible for his misery in any way. He was more of a puppet of his own life, and his fate was meant to be a tragedy. In Oedipus, you can see that what Oedipus wasnt just running from his fate but he wanted his free will to do as he, please. Oedipus is innocent in his own story, and because of that free will to run away from it and not confront his parents; he runs into his tragic fate and murdered and married his mother. Oedipus intentions towards his parents were good; we see that he wasnt into killing his parents, but his actions towards avoiding it were bad. He also didnt have all the truth before running away. If he knew that the parents he was with werent his real parents than I dont think he would have run away, because he would have realized that hes not with his actual parents, so the prophesy would have nev er came true. During the time when Sophocles wrote Oedipus the king, we see that they believed so much in gods, and how humans were placed on earth to do as commanded by the gods. We see that they have no free will to do say they want but rather to obey the gods. With this, we can see that during the Ancient Greek time period they dont have the will to do anything they want like we do in this time period. If Oedipus was during this time period and all those tragedies happened to him, then we can say he had his free will to no fulfill the Prophesy, but the choice to do it anyways. That wouldnt consider him a tragic story, but we see ancient Greek gods were in control of the people and what fate is set for someone they cannot change. For Oedipus to be responsible for what he did; we would have to identify what the ancient Greek mean by responsible. The word means to act accordingly to ones own wishes, and having control over. Which he couldnt do because his fate was already set, and when he tried to fight it by running the run straight into his fate unable to escape from it. This proves that Oedipus wasnt responsible for his fate, and had no control over it making him a tragedy. Greek mythology believed in gods and believed that things that happened were not in the natural will, but it was the intentions of the gods, and they do say they please. We could say his destiny chooses him, and there were divine powers from the gods in it. For him to be at the ball and find out that he wasnt who he thought he was. To me, there were supernatural powers involved. Why did it have to be at that moment he finds out? Also at the moment, he was running away. He runs in the direction of his father, and why was his father on the road? How could he have killed his fathers guards and his father without any injuries? All this is the power of the gods with no free will for Oedipus to run away from his tragic. If he had found out that his adopted parent was not the parent he should have ran from then I believe things would have been different for Oedipus. He would have never killed his father and marry his mother. Oedipus faced the issues of justice and morality, innocence, guilt , and criminal intent. All the things he was trying to fight; he ended up doing against his will. This makes Oedipus a Tragedy. There were elements in Oedipus that appear in a story and have a deeper meaning than what appears to be. The first symbol that appears in the plot was eyes. This symbol was introduced when Tiresias, a blind prophet, was trying to explain to Oedipus that Oedipus himself was actually the one who killed King Laius who was his father. Oedipus refuses to believe what Tiresias was saying or see the evidence right in front of him; instead, he tries to blame the murder on someone else. This makes Oedipus blind to the truth. A Tiresias end up telling Oedipus that not only is he the murderer, but he will end up physically blind once he finally accepts the truth. This comes true. The Second symbol that appears in the plot was his foot. The name Oedipus is swollen foot, which happens to Oedipus when king Laius his father pins his ankles together as an infant. The scars on his ankles make him different from others, making his fate different than others. The injury symbolizes Oedipus being limited and controlled by the prophecy. His control to the prophecy means he cannot run away his fate. The last symbol that appears in the plot was the crossroads. Crossroads symbolized a huge decision for Oedipus where each path would lead him to a different outcome. At the crossroads in the story, Oedipus was faced with a decision of whether to kill or obey king Laius and move out the way for him. Which he chooses to kill King Laius. Making his fate sealed. The crossroads symbolize fate and the power of prophecy rather than freedom/choice. During my research, I found out that all the tragedy that was in Oedipuss family or what happened to Oedipus was by King Laius. King Laius was said to have tutored the son of a king. It was said that eternal suffering was cast on all future blood relations to King Laius meaning Oedipus is son and grandsons, and it happened. Oedipus after wondered the earth till he died. The suffering didnt just stop with Oedipus. It went on to his children. Eteocles and Polynices, decided to share the kingdom, each taking one-year to rule. Which Eteocles refused to step down from his throne after his year as king. Polynices was mad and brought in an army to fight Eteocles from his position. At the end of the war the brothers killed each other. Which Jocastas brother, Creon, took over the throne. He decided that Polynices was a traitor, and should not be given burial rites. Antigone didnt like it and attempted to bury her brother. Creon found out and had Antigone buried in a rock cavern for defying him, where has she hanged herself as soon as she was put in the cave, and Creon son, Haemon was hiding in the cave ahead of time, trying to free her and then to run away with Antigone and live happily ever after. Which Antigone did not know about. When Haemon discovers Antigones dead body; he was unhappy, and he commits suicide too. This shows that the curse upon Oedipus family didnt just end with him but also with his children. Each one of them dies in a cruel way. Oedipus wasnt the only one affected by the tragedy and proving that the fate of Oedipus and his family were sealed from the very beginni ng, which they could not run away from. To conclude this essay, what makes Oedipus such a tragic character is that he wanted no part in his prophecy, but he was doomed to fail from the start, beginning with his injury in his foot, to the crossroad, and to the blindness of his eyes. Oedipus was a smart man, who tried fighting fate and running from the truth. He tried to run from who he thought he was because he was afraid to hurt is parent only to run into who he was meant to be from the very beginning, and fulfill his purpose against his will by killing his real father and marrying his mother, and I believed if King Laius and his wife jocasta had loved Laius and never tried to kill him, but they let Oedipus live with them till the point where he is responsible enough to understand things. Thats when they should have talked to him about the prophecy, and Im pretty sure Oedipus would have never killed his father and married his mother. That to me is why I picked Oedipus the king has a true Greek tragedy story that had no will over his own life.

The Child protective services (CPS) is formed of social workers who are the forefront of its community’s child protections efforts. Introduction North Korea appears on the international stage as a country existing beyond the world we all know. It isolates its citizens from the rest of international community and does not obey any rules determined by international law, but requires respect and recognition. Moreover, North Korea is one of the countries that remains aggressive towards its neighbors and applies various terrorist techniques, i.e. illegal contraband, political terror and mass abductions of other countries’ citizens in its foreign policy. Since that time North Korea placed its spies in the East Asia and started sheltering revolutionists and terrorists from all over the world, among others nine members of radical left-wing group called the Japanese Fraction of the Red Army who skyjacked a Japanese airplane to Pyongyang in March 1970 . Motivation free essay sample
Motivation and the Brain – The Desire to Exercise and Be Physically Fit Motivation and the Brain – The Desire to Exercise and Be Physically Fit The motivation that drives people to engage in physical activities like exercise can be analyzed as a result of many contributing factors. Theories exist regarding whether desire can be attributed to extrinsic or intrinsic factors. The brain structures and functions responsible for this type of motivation are complex and unique. Each individual will have his or her own reasons, but ultimately, some key factors can be noted. The role of Extrinsic and Intrinsic Motivators The motivational factors that drive people to engage in physical activities like working out at a fitness club, or running, appear to be mostly intrinsic. Heredity does not seem to be a prominent motivator; however, one’s environment will indeed have some effect. Children raised by athletes will obviously more inclined and motivated to participate in physical activities as an athlete would likely push his or her son or daughter to be athletic like them. We will write a custom essay sample on Motivation or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Another increasingly popular source of motivation to work out is the desire to maintain good health, including keeping a healthy body weight. Another possible motivation is the desire one may have to prove to their own selves, the extent of their capacity. The term â€Å"self-efficacy†can be summarized with an individual asking himself or herself the following two questions: â€Å"Am I capable of doing this activity? †and â€Å"Will I be successful in achieving my goals if I engage in this behavior? †The internal question specific to this article would be â€Å"Am I capable of successfully participating in an ongoing diet and exercise program? Self-efficacy can also be described as situation-specific self-confidence (Grogan, Connor, Smithson, 2006). Another possible explanation for the motivation to diet and exercise is the Protection Motivation Theory, which suggests that people are motivated to protect themselves from harmful or stressful life events (D eci, 2004). In other words, an individual who maintains his or herself at peak physical condition can develop a sense that he or she is prepared for any disease or threat that may cross his or her path. Some may become paranoid and overly cautious in considering every possible harm that could fall upon them; this fear is drives them in the relentless pursuit of physical health. Perhaps the most gratifying benefit of exercising is the change it will bring to one’s physique. The tone and definition, weight loss and strength are obvious and can be noticed fairly quickly and easily. Along with these changes come the encouragement and positive feedback from one’s peers; this is a huge motivator. Research shows that Acknowledgment, Positive Feedback and Encouragement for self-initiation tend to increase intrinsic motivation (Deci, 2004). It does seem the motivation for maintaining physical health is largely intrinsic, previous family medical history, such as inherent life-threatening diabetes could be considered an extrinsic motivator. Pressure placed on individuals by family members and medical professionals regarding the risks of an unhealthy diet and lethargic behavior can be significant motivating factors that would drive one to take action to improve their health. Both intrinsic motivation and integrated extrinsic motivation are facilitated in situations that are interpersonally supportive, that is, here parents, teachers, managers, health care providers, and coaches understand and acknowledge the perspectives of their children, students, employees, patients, and athletes, respectively, and encourage them to experiment, allow them to try their own solutions to problems, provide them with choices, and respond to their initiations (Deci, 2004). Brain Structures and functions associated with the motivation to work out An important thing to note the brain structures and functions associated with this type of motivation. The feeling a person experiences in the aftermath of a long training session can be extremely euphoric. One hypothesis revolves around a set of opioid neurotransmitters of which endorphins are a special case. The term endorphin refers to internal morphine. Endorphins are primarily located in the pain pathways and are responsible for reducing the negative effects of pain stimuli and stressors (Deckers, 2010). Another argument that could be made would be that the gender aspect related to the concern about weight and appearance. It has been suggested that gay men and heterosexual women are under significantly more acute social pressure to attain the culturally valued slender body type (Grogan, Connor, Smithson, 2006).

Michelangelo Buonarroti Biography and Artwork
Michelangelo Buonarroti Biography and Artwork The Basics: Michelangelo Buonarroti was arguably the most famous artist of the High to Late Italian Renaissance, and inarguably one of the greatest artists of all time along with fellow Renaissance men Leonardo DiVinci and Raphael (Raffaello Sanzio). He considered himself a sculptor, primarily, but is equally well known for the paintings he was induced (grudgingly) to create. He was also an architect and an amateur poet. Early Life: Michelangelo was born on March 6, 1475, in Caprese (near Florence) in Tuscany. He was motherless by the age of six and fought long and hard with his father for permission to apprentice as an artist. At the age of 12, he began studying under Domenico Ghirlandajo, who was the most fashionable painter in Florence at the time. Fashionable, but extremely jealous of Michelangelos emerging talent. Ghirlandajo passed the lad off to be apprenticed to a sculptor named Bertoldo di Giovanni. Here Michelangelo found the work that became his true passion. His sculpture came to the attention of the most powerful family in Florence, the Medici, and he gained their patronage. His Art: Michelangelos output was, quite simply, stunning, in quality, quantity, and scale. His most famous statues include the 18-foot David (1501-1504) and the (1499), which were both completed before he turned 30. His other sculpture pieces included elaborately decorated tombs. He did not consider himself a painter, and (justifiably) complained throughout four straight years of the work, but Michelangelo created one of the greatest masterpieces of all time on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel (1508-1512). Additionally, he painted The Last Judgement (1534-1541) on the altar wall of the same chapel many years later. Both frescoes helped Michelangelo earn the nickname Il Divino or The Divine One. As an old man, he was tapped by the Pope to complete the half-finished St. Peters Basilica in the Vatican. Not all of the plans he drew were utilized but, after his death, architects built the dome still in use today. His poetry was very personal and not as grand as his other works, yet is of great value to those who wish to know Michelangelo. Accounts of his life seem to portray Michelangelo as a prickly-tempered, mistrusting and lonely man, lacking in both interpersonal skills and confidence in his physical appearance. Perhaps that is why he created works of such heartbreaking beauty and heroism that they are still held in awe these many centuries later. Michelangelo died in Rome on February 18, 1564, at the age of 88. Famous Quote: Genius is eternal patience.

Mechanical Engineering- Mechanical Project Essay - 1
Mechanical Engineering- Mechanical Project - Essay Example Mongols, began utilising composite bows around 1200AD, presenting improvements on the utilisation of composites. The Mongols combined wood, bone and animal glue to create a powerful weapon, which provided them with significant military dominance during these ancient times. The modern era of composites began with the development of plastics, which contributed significantly towards increased utilisation of composite materials. The utilisation of plastics began in nearly 1900s, replacing natural resins previously utilised in composites. These plastics, however, had the weakness of lacking sufficient strength for structural requirements (Kulshreshtha and Vasile 2002). Owens Corning remains credited with the introduction of fibre glass in 1935, which ultimately solved the problem of plastics lacking sufficient strength. This invention remains the notable beginning for Fibre Reinforced Polymers (FRP) industry. During the Second World War, demand for alternate materials increased, as they b ecame necessary in the manufacture of lightweight military aircrafts. During this period numerous advancements occurred regarding the production and application of fibre composites. Engineers discovered other advantages as these material remains transparent to radio frequencies utilised during wartime. Many fibreglass reinforced material became adopted in protecting electronic radar equipment. Following the end of the war inventors began making application for the fibreglass within other industries, other than aviation. Brandt Goldsworthy – grandfather of composites, developed numerous processes for manufacturing composites utilised in different industries. He remains accredited with development of the first fibreglass surfboard, which revolutionised surfing, and remains commonly utilised even today. This scientist invented pultrusion – the process utilised today in the manufacture of many fibreglass materials. The utilisation of composites could be identified as havin g begun maturing. During the 1970s, improvements were made; consequently producing better plastic resins (Seymour and Deanin 1987). Carbon fibre also developed during this period and has continued to replace metal as the material of choice. During the periods preceding these developments, metallic materials were highly utilised in the manufacture of many tools. Currently almost all manufactured tools have handles made from carbon fibre. As the composite industry continues to advance technologically, the 21st century has brought challenges focusing on renewable fibres and green environment. The 21st century concerns have changed the focus towards utilisation of environmentally friendly fibres based on ensuring sustainability on the industry (Johnson 2013). Under the current environmental concerns, inventions continue to occur utilising recyclable resins and bio-degradable fibres. Focus has been exclusively dedicated towards delivering environmentally friendly sustainable fibre source s. The concept of utilising composites in manufacturing various tools remains the same. Various universities and dedicated organisations continue to pursue research seeking to establish utilisation of fibres meeting the energy and environmental requirements of the 21st century. The current focus of composite development remains concerned with delivering environmentally friendly composite materials, and focuses on improving properties of

Deinstitutionalization Capstone Project Research Paper
Deinstitutionalization Capstone Project - Research Paper Example s that health behaviour is determined by one’s personal beliefs or perceptions regarding a disease or disorder and the available strategies one can access to prevent it. The four perceptions, namely: perceived seriousness, perceived susceptibility, perceived benefits and perceived barriers can be used to explain why a person behaves the way he does when it comes to health. All four perceptions affect an individual’s health and well-being so these must all be kept positive in order to achieve optimal health. Pedersen, P.B. and Kolstad, A., 2009, De-institutionalisation and trans- institutionalisation – changing trends of inpatient care in Norwegian mental health institutions 1950-2007, International Journal of Mental Health Systems, 3:28 This article chronicles trends in Norwegian mental health institutions from the 1950’s to the present that leads to current trends of deinstitutionalization and trans-institutionalization of inpatient care. It concludes wit h the observation that deinstitutionalization may mean fewer beds available in mental health facilities but not necessarily fewer patients treated since they are just transferred to other mental health services. It also identifies the factors behind deinstitutionalization in Norway as the expansion of welfare state; increased professional focus on active treatment and increased focus on patients’ preferences. Thompson, P., Lang, L. & Annells, M., 2008, A systematic review of the effectiveness of in-home community nurse led interventions for the mental health of older persons, Journal of Clinical Nursing Journal Compilation, Blackwell Publishing, Ltd. This article is a systematic review of the literature on in-home community nurse-led interventions for elderly adults with mental health issues. Main findings... Community care centers need to adopt a health promotion program to guide the health workers with a firm philosophy of health and wellness. A commonly used health promotion model is the Health Belief Model (HBM) which proposes that health behaviour is determined by one’s personal beliefs or perceptions regarding a disease or disorder and the available strategies one can access to prevent it.  Another good health promotion program is one by Ewles & Simnett (2005).  It  takes a holistic health care approach, taking into account all dimensions of a person’s development.  A study on how these two health promotion programs can be integrated to come up with the most appropriate program that would best suit elderly adults with mental illness would be interesting.a. Alcohol and Drug Abuse Essay -- Drug Abuse, Substance Abuse
Alcohol and Drug Abuse      Alcohol and drug abuse is one of biggest problems in United States today. It is not only a personal problem that dramatically affects individuals' lives, but is a major social problem that affects society as whole. "Drug and alcohol abuse", these phrases we hear daily on the radio, television or in discussions of social problem. But what do they mean or what do we think and understand by it? Most of us don't really view drug or alcohol use as a problem, if that includes your grandmother taking two aspirins when she has a headache or your friends having few beers or drinks on Saturday night. What we really mean is that some drugs or alcohol are being used by some people or in some situations constitute problem with which our society must deal. It becomes a real problem when using or I should say abusing drugs cause accidents, antisocial behavior, broken relationships, family instability, crime and violence, poverty, unsafe streets and highways, worker absenteeism a nd nonproductivity, and the most tragic one death. The situation in which the drug or alcohol uses accurse often makes all the difference. The clearest example is the drinking of alcohol, when individual begins to drink during the job, at school, or in the morning, we have evidence that indicates a potential drinking problem. If a person takes narcotic drug because he just wrecked his knee while his physician prescribed playing football and the drug, most of us would be not concerned. If, on the other hand, he took the same drug on his own just because he likes the way it makes him feel, then we should begin to worry about him developing dependence. Even use of illegal drugs are sometimes acceptable, but it also depends on situation, for example in some countries smoking marijuana is legal just like drinking alcohol in United States. Some subcultures even in United States that accept the use of illegal drugs may distinguish between acceptable and unacceptable situation, some college age groups might accept marijuana smoking at a party on weekends, but not just before going to a calculus class. Most of people would accept a fact that a bartender or a waiter who is working at a night club is having a beer or a drink on his break or that a landscape worker is having a cold beer with his lunch on a hot summer day. I'm not saying that it is "OK" but we wouldn't complain a... ... treatment for alcoholism.      Another tragic and very important issue ate the " Crack Babies". A crack baby is a child born to a mother who was smoking crack during her pregnancy and up until the time of birth. The infant is addicted at birth, suffers withdrawal agonies, and continues to suffer from developmental abnormalities. These tragedies occur at too high a rate no matter how many there are†¦ The 1991 Household Survey data estimated that about 280,000 women of all ages might have used crack at some time during the year.      Children are introduced to drugs and alcohol at a very young age. Many of them see alcohol and drugs in their homes, used by their parents on daily bases. Some of these children don't even realize that it is wrong, "not normal", and not accepted in other homes until they are old enough to understand that situation in their home is a problem and that it is wrong. Minors usually begin using alcohol at around age 13. Statistics show that by the time they are high school sinners, 81 percent of teens have used alcohol. Alcohol consumption and alcohol abuse are more widespread among young people than many adults realize. Drug abuse is also very high.

The Relationship of Macbeth and His Wife in Act 1 Scene 5 and 7
The Relationship of Macbeth and his wife in Act 1 Scene 5 and 7 From the beginning of the play, the relationship between Macbeth and his wife seem to be the expected partnership in romance, however, as the play progresses, our expectations seems to change for the worst. We are informed that Macbeth desires to be King of Scotland and initially, his wife appears to be supportive of him as a wife should be but her response to this changes quite drastically as we read further on. We are first introduced to Lady Macbeth when she reads the letter which Macbeth sent to her recapping his encounter with the three witches. She now becomes aware of Macbeth’s wish to become king but she knows that his conscience inhibits him from partaking in any risky business. She uses the phrase â€Å"yet do I fear thy nature, is too full o’th’milk of human kindness†¦ †in her opening soliloquy which suggests that he is a very kind and worthy gentleman. â€Å"Thou wouldst be g reat, art not without ambition but without the illness should attend it. †She explains how he has the ambition to become king but lacks the boldness to become violent if needed to get the crown. This helps to show how sensible and timid Macbeth can be and why Lady Macbeth has to intervene to make the situation progress further. To our surprise, Lady Macbeth appears to be the complete opposite of her husband’s supposed character. She is determined to make sure that Macbeth becomes king under any circumstances that need to be undertaken. At the end of her soliloquy, she says â€Å"Hie thee hither, that I may pour out my spirits to thine ear, and chastise with the valour of my tongue all that impedes thee from the golden round†¦ which means that she wishes to persuade and talk him out of whatever may be keeping him from seizing the crown. This furthermore emphasizes her persistence to crown him as king and shower her with glory. Throughout this act, Lady Macbeth appe ars to be the stronger partner and this is reflected when she calls upon supernatural powers, much greater than her own, to make her less of a woman and more like a man. â€Å"Come, you spirits that tend on moral thoughts, unsex me here and fill from the crown to the toe topfull of direst cruelty†¦ She has made herself aware that she has to uphold the greater position in the relationship so that their aim of getting the crown is accomplished. The audience finds this act quite shocking as females are meant to be the fairer sex. During the rest of her call to the spirits, she develops the sense of maliciousness and ruthlessness which accentuates the depth of her serious attitude. At this point in the play, the audience has reached a full understanding of Macbeth and his wife’s ambition. When Macbeth is introduced in Scene 5, he begins with â€Å"my dearest love†focusing on Lady Macbeth which shows the position he holds his wife at proving quite admirable to the aud ience. However, Lady Macbeth shows no mercy to the situation. King Duncan planned to go to the castle that night and wished to leave tomorrow but Lady Macbeth’s response to this was â€Å"O never shall sun that morrow see†which implies he will not be leaving tomorrow leading to the cruel suggestion of death. This line reflects her decisive character showing that she is taking the lead role here. She also teaches Macbeth the way in which he must deceive Duncan and instructs him on the arts of hypocrisy as she says â€Å"†¦ look like th’innocent flower, but be the serpent under’t. †By using this metaphor, it shows that she is manipulating Macbeth and challenges his feelings of guilt and pity for Duncan and replaces them with demeaning and spiteful emotions. Lady Macbeth encourages him to be deceitful to his loyal and trusting leader that is Duncan and the audience can begin to make the judgement that the evil spirits are now manifesting in Lady Macbeth’s heart from her evil suggestions. She knows that Macbeth hasn’t got what it takes to make this plan work so she takes the leading role by saying ‘Leave all the rest to me†at the end of Scene 5. At the beginning of Scene 7 opening with Macbeth’s soliloquy, we as the audience, really get a sense of guilt that seeps through Macbeth. This is beyond his usual attitude so this is hard for him to cope with. He knows how much he wants to be king but what frightens him the most are the consequences. He uses the metaphor â€Å"If th’assassination could trammel up the consequence and catch with his surcease, success†¦ e’d jump the life to come†¦ †which translated means â€Å"If this assassination could work like a net and prevent any consequences, he would be more than happy to risk the afterlife to do so. †Macbeth knows that Duncan is a highly respected man because of his good intentions and purely hearted natu re so he is afraid if he is made known to the people that he is responsible, the chances of him becoming king will be shattered. He contemplates the idea of killing Duncan and weighs up the advantages and disadvantages. The only know advantage is that he will become King. However, the disadvantages are what he already is considered to Duncan. â€Å"First, as I am his kinsman and his subject, strong both against the deed; then as his host who should against his murderer shut the door, not bear the knife myself. †This quote from Scene 7 shows that Macbeth is in conflict with what Lady Macbeth is instructing and his loyal personality is urging him not to fulfil the â€Å"horrid deed†. After considering what a â€Å"meek†leader Duncan was, we as the audience can really depict a picture as to what Macbeth was emoting. When Lady Macbeth enters, Macbeth’s final decision has now been displayed. â€Å"We will proceed no further in this business. He hath honoured me of late†¦ †He has decided to cancel the plan because of how nicely Duncan had treated him that evening. The amount of guilt was too much for him to bear so the easiest escape for him was to abort the business. To his misfortune, Lady Macbeth did not take the current news very lightly. She begins to bombard him with insults and various accusations. â€Å"Art thou afeard to be the same in thine own act and valour, as thou art in desire? Lady Macbeth begins to question him and whether he is afraid to do what he must to achieve what he desires. As she has handed herself to the powers of darkness, she speaks to him brutally by saying â€Å"Was the hope drunk wherein you dressed yourself? Hath it slept since? †suggesting that he was drunk when he made the decision to kill Duncan. He raging fury increases furthermore when she says â€Å"Which thou esteem’st the ornament of life, and live a coward in thine own esteem, letting I dare not wait upon I would, lik e the poor cat i’th’adage? calling him a coward if he doesn’t take the crown that he has always wanted to own. At this point in the play, the relationship between Lady Macbeth and his wife reaches its peak as they have a great dispute. Macbeth’s counter argument is not as furious as Lady Macbeth as he simply responds with â€Å"Prithee, peace. I dare do all that may become a man; Who dares do more is none. †He believes that he has done all that a man can do in this situation however Lady Macbeth disagrees. She believes that his definition is wrong and that he only becomes and man if he does the deed. Now Lady Macbeth is raging, she decides to use the excuse that Macbeth doesn’t love her which is the typical response for a woman to use in an argument with her partner. In addition to this, to emphasize the depth of evil in her she creates a vivid inhuman image in the audience’s mind â€Å"I have given such and know how tender ‘tis to love the babe that milks me: I would, while it was smiling in my face have plucked the nipple from my boneless gums and dashed the brains out, had I so sworn as you have done to this. As she is the mother of the child, this makes the image even more disturbing as she has sworn to herself that she would have done it just as Macbeth swore he would do the rotten deed. The audience can really see the evil thoughts capturing her mind at this point as thoughts like this would not be evoked from a normal female figure. Macbeth is emotionally moved by the lengths Lady Macbeth would go to keep her word so he sees this as an opportunity to voice his fear of failure. â€Å"If we should fail? †Lady Macbeth’s response is â€Å"We fail? But screw your courage to the sticking-place and we’ll not fail. which suggests that it is impossible for them for them to fail if he just becomes more courageous. Lady Macbeth has planned the whole murder and reveals it to Macbeth which he can find no faults for himself. At this point in the scene, there is finally some common ground between Macbeth and his wife. â€Å"When Duncan is asleep, whereto the rather shall his day’s hard journey soundly invite him, his two chamberlains will I with wine and wassail so convince that memory the warder of the brain shall be fume, and the receipt of reason a limbeck only. She plans on making the guards so drunk so that they won’t be able to remember any affairs that take place during the night. Macbeth begins to understand his wife’s plans and knows that once the blood is put onto the guard’s daggers, people will assume they are the culprits. By the end of the scene, Macbeth has decided to go ahead with the murder, using every muscle in his body to help him carry out this task.He appears to have changed his tone also as he ends with â€Å"False face must hide what the false heart doth know†which in some aspects is similar to what Lady Macb eth had originally told him to do. By the end of both scenes, the audience can really determine the flow of Macbeth and his wife’s relationship. Originally, Lady Macbeth supported Macbeth’s desire to become King of Scotland but as the play went on, the support had turned into force and she did not have a friendly approach to the situation as she called upon the dark spirits to disable any feelings of remorse as a human being should have.Macbeth knew that the deed he was influenced to pursue was cruel and would have rotten consequences but his the persuasive tone of his wife led him to change his mind and use the same words she used on him to her. It is not an ordinary relationship as the audience can see the manifestation of the dark powers between one side of the partnership which leads to other side to perform murderous tasks.
